Scarpa Size Guide

Not sure which Scarpa size to choose? Find the brand’s size conversions and recommendations to help you select your shoes, climbing shoes or ski touring boots.

The right size depends on the shape of your foot, the model and your intended use. A Scarpa shoe designed for everyday wear will not fit in the same way as a precise climbing shoe or a mountaineering boot worn with technical socks.

How do Scarpa shoes fit?

With the exception of ski boots, Scarpa footwear is available in European sizes. The difference between two European sizes is approximately 6.6 mm, compared with approximately 8.4 mm between two US sizes.

European sizing therefore allows for a more precise fit according to the activity and the level of support required.

Scarpa ski touring, ski mountaineering and telemark boots use the Mondopoint system, which is based on foot length.

How to measure your feet

To choose your Scarpa size, measure both feet and use the larger measurement. It is common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other.

  1. Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall.
  2. Put on the socks you intend to wear with the shoes.
  3. Stand with your heel against the wall.
  4. Mark the position of the tip of your longest toe.
  5. Measure the distance between the edge of the paper and the mark.
  6. Repeat with your other foot and keep the larger measurement.

Ideally, measure your feet at the end of the day, when they are usually slightly larger.

What size should you choose for Scarpa Mojito or Primitive shoes?

For Scarpa footwear designed for everyday wear, travel and walking, such as the Mojito and Primitive ranges, start with your usual shoe size.

The shoe should hold the heel and instep securely without compressing the toes. A small amount of space at the front is necessary to allow the foot to move naturally while walking.

When you are between two sizes, the larger size may be more comfortable, particularly when wearing thicker socks or walking for long periods.

What size should you choose for Scarpa hiking or approach shoes?

For Scarpa hiking, trekking and approach shoes, choose a size that holds your foot securely without allowing your toes to touch the front of the shoe.

Pay particular attention to this when walking downhill, as the foot tends to move forwards. The heel should remain stable to reduce friction and movement inside the shoe.

An approach shoe may offer a more precise fit than a hiking or trekking shoe. The internal volume can therefore vary between models, even in the same size.

What size should you choose for Scarpa mountaineering boots?

For mountaineering boots, Scarpa recommends choosing a larger size, generally half a size above, depending on the fit you require.

This extra space accommodates thicker socks, natural foot swelling during activity and repeated pressure on the front of the boot during descents.

Your toes should not touch the end of the boot. However, the heel and instep should remain securely supported to maintain precision and limit friction.

What size should you choose for Scarpa climbing shoes?

For climbing shoes, Scarpa recommends starting with your usual shoe size.

The shoe should fit closely and evenly around the foot, without unnecessary space around the heel or toes. Depending on the shape and asymmetry of the model, the toes may be slightly curled.

Experienced climbers seeking greater precision at the expense of comfort may choose half a size below their usual shoe size.

Two Scarpa climbing shoes in the same size may nevertheless feel different depending on their shape, stiffness, internal volume and materials.

What size should you choose for Scarpa ski touring boots?

Scarpa ski touring, ski mountaineering and telemark boots use Mondopoint sizing.

Mondopoint corresponds to foot length. A size 25.5 therefore corresponds to a foot approximately 25.5 cm, or 255 mm, long.

Scarpa ski boots are produced in half sizes. Each half size shares the same shell length as the next full size, but the liner is pre-shaped for the corresponding half size.

For example, sizes 25.5 and 26 use the same shell length, but their liners are adapted to each individual size.

Some experienced skiers may choose to size down by up to one full Mondopoint size for a more precise fit. This choice depends on foot volume, intended use and the desired level of comfort.
