What is Mondo Point sizing?

Mondo Point is the sizing system used for ski boots. It corresponds to the length of the foot expressed in millimetres or centimetres.

For example, Mondo Point 270, also written as 27.0, corresponds to a foot measuring approximately 27 cm.

Your European shoe size can provide an initial reference, but measuring the actual length of your foot is the most reliable way to choose Scarpa ski boots.

How should you measure your foot in Mondo Point?

1. Place a sheet of paper against a wall on a flat floor.
2. Put on the thin ski socks you intend to wear in your boots.
3. Stand with your heel against the wall and your weight evenly distributed.
4. Mark the end of your longest toe.
5. Measure the distance between the wall and the mark.
6. Measure both feet and use the length of the longer foot.

A foot measuring 26.5 cm therefore corresponds to Mondo Point 26.5, also written as 265.

Length is the first sizing criterion, but foot width, instep volume and heel shape also influence the final fit.

Understanding Scarpa half sizes

Scarpa ski mountaineering and telemark boots are available in half sizes. However, two consecutive sizes share the same shell length.

For example, a 25.5 boot and a 26.0 boot use the same external shell. Their liners are pre-shaped differently to suit each half size.

The liner therefore adjusts the internal volume and foot support without changing the length of the shell.

Which Scarpa ski boot size should you choose?

Start with the Mondo Point size corresponding to the actual length of your foot. This measurement provides the most reliable starting point when choosing Scarpa ski boots.

Depending on personal fit preferences, some skiers may size down by as much as one full Mondo size. This can provide a more precise fit, but it reduces the available space and may not suit every skier.

A ski touring or telemark boot should hold the foot securely without causing excessive compression or painful pressure points.

How can you tell whether the size is correct?

When standing upright with straight legs, your toes may lightly touch the front of the liner. When you flex your knees into a skiing position, your heel moves backwards and your toes should gain a little more room.

Your heel should remain securely held when you flex your legs. Significant heel lift can reduce precision and cause friction.

Light contact at the front may be normal. However, severe pain, heavily compressed toes or numbness indicate an unsuitable fit.

What should you do if you are between two Mondo sizes?

Your choice depends on the volume of your foot, the boot model and your preferred balance between comfort and precision.

Choose the larger size if your toes are heavily compressed, if your foot requires more internal volume or if comfort is your priority on long tours.

Choose the smaller size only if you are used to a very precise fit and no excessive pain is present.

How do I convert my European size to Mondo Point?

Use the official Scarpa chart to find the corresponding size. For greater accuracy, measure your foot directly: 27 cm corresponds to Mondo Point 27.0 or 270.

Can I choose the same size as my hiking boots?

Not necessarily. Hiking footwear and ski boots do not use the same type of fit. For ski touring and telemark, measure your foot and select the size using Mondo Point.

Why do 25.5 and 26.0 Scarpa boots use the same shell?
