What is Mondo Point sizing?
Mondo Point corresponds to the length of the foot in centimetres. A foot measuring 26.5 cm therefore corresponds to Mondo Point 26.5.
Your European shoe size can provide an initial reference, but measuring the actual length of your foot is the most reliable way to choose La Sportiva ski touring boots.

How should you measure your foot in Mondo Point?
- Place a sheet of paper against a wall on a flat floor.
- Put on the thin ski socks you intend to wear.
- Stand with your heel against the wall and your weight evenly distributed.
- Mark the end of your longest toe.
- Measure the distance between the wall and the mark.
- Measure both feet and use the length of the longer foot.
A foot measuring 27 cm corresponds to Mondo Point 27. Foot length is the first criterion, but width, instep volume and heel shape also affect the choice of model.
La Sportiva sole lengths and boot widths
Sole length, sometimes referred to as BSL or Boot Sole Length, is the external length of the boot in millimetres. It is not the same as foot length and is used when adjusting ski bindings.
The boot width listed by La Sportiva provides a reference for the transverse volume of each model. It helps compare different ranges, although the final fit also depends on instep volume, heel shape and liner construction.

Understanding La Sportiva half sizes and shells
The official chart groups sizes in pairs, such as 26 and 26.5. These two half sizes use the same external sole length for the relevant model.
The internal volume and fit may nevertheless be adjusted by the liner. Size availability and the precise shell structure should always be checked for the individual model.
Which La Sportiva ski boot size should you choose?
Start with the Mondo Point size corresponding to the actual length of your foot. A ski touring boot should hold the heel and midfoot securely without causing painful compression.
Boot width is also important. A wider boot is not necessarily longer: it simply provides more transverse volume in the stated size.
How can you tell whether the size is correct?
When standing upright with straight legs, your toes may lightly touch the front of the liner. When you flex your knees into a skiing position, your heel moves backwards and your toes should gain a little more room.
Your heel should remain securely held during flexion. Severe pain, numbness or excessive compression indicate an unsuitable fit.
What should you do if you are between two Mondo sizes?
Choose the larger size if your toes are heavily compressed, if your foot requires more volume or if comfort is your priority on long tours.
Choose the smaller size only if you are used to a very precise fit and no painful pressure points are present.

Do La Sportiva ski boots run small?
The fit depends on the model, its width and your foot shape. Use your actual foot length in Mondo Point as the starting point rather than relying only on your everyday shoe size.
How do I convert my European size to Mondo Point?
Use the official La Sportiva chart. For greater accuracy, measure your foot directly: a length of 27 cm corresponds to Mondo Point 27.
Is sole length the same as Mondo Point?
No. Mondo Point refers to foot length, whereas sole length is the external length of the boot. It is used when adjusting ski bindings.
Why do two models in the same size have different sole lengths?
Each range uses a specific construction and shell. The same Mondo Point size may therefore have a different external length depending on the model.
Why do two models in the same size have different widths?
Width depends on the shape and volume of each shell. La Sportiva's charts help compare models, but heel support and instep volume must also be considered.
Does a wider boot correspond to a larger size?
No. Width and length are separate measurements. Select the correct length in Mondo Point, then choose a model with a volume suited to your foot shape.
Can I choose the same size as my hiking boots?
Not necessarily. Ski boots provide a more precise fit and use Mondo Point sizing. Measuring your foot remains the most reliable method.
Why should I measure both feet?
It is common for one foot to be slightly longer than the other. Select your size using the measurement of the longer foot.
Will the liner pack out?
The liner may gradually adapt to the foot and lose a small amount of volume with use. However, you should not choose a painfully tight boot solely in the hope that the liner will pack out.
Should I try the boots on with thick socks?
No. Relatively thin technical ski socks generally improve precision and blood circulation. Try the boots with the socks you genuinely intend to use.
Should my heel move inside a ski touring boot?
Your heel should remain securely held. Significant heel lift can cause friction, reduce precision and decrease ski control.
