Cotopaxi: Eco-Friendly Outdoor Gear with Explosive Colors
Can we explore the world while actively making it a better place? This is the core mission of Cotopaxi, founded in 2014 by Davis Smith. Named after the famous active volcano in the Ecuadorian Andes, this American brand has completely disrupted traditional outdoor codes. Behind its ultra-colorful, retro designs lies a revolutionary business model. As a certified B Corp, Cotopaxi places human welfare and environmental protection at the heart of every single decision.
Specializing in travel backpacks, technical down jackets, and hiking accessories, Cotopaxi appeals to urban adventurers and backcountry hikers alike. Its signature concept? The iconic Del Día collection, where every single product is a one-of-a-kind piece, repurposed from high-quality remnant fabric scraps left over by other manufacturers. Practical, durable, and resolutely optimistic, Cotopaxi proves that technical gear can have a soul.

Cotopaxi FAQ: Everything You Need to Know
Where are Cotopaxi products manufactured?
Cotopaxi products are manufactured in facilities strictly vetted for fair labor practices and environmental standards, located primarily in the Philippines (for the famous Del Día pack collection), Indonesia, and Cambodia. The brand ensures that factory workers receive fair wages and operate in safe conditions.
Why is every Cotopaxi Del Día backpack completely unique?
The Del Día collection is built on a circular economy approach. Cotopaxi rescues high-quality fabric scraps (nylon remnants) that would otherwise end up in landfills. The sewers at the Philippine factory are given total creative freedom to mix and match colors for every panel, buckle, and zipper. No two bags are identical, making your Allpa or Tasra backpack a unique piece of functional art.
Is the Cotopaxi Allpa backpack waterproof?
The brand’s flagship travel pack, the Cotopaxi Allpa (available in 28L, 35L, and 42L), is built with ultra-durable, recycled nylon featuring a water-resistant TPU coating. While it easily repels light rain and snow, it is not 100% submersible. For heavy downpours, Cotopaxi includes a high-visibility, detachable rain cover with every Allpa pack.
What are Cotopaxi's environmental and social commitments?
As a certified B Corp, Cotopaxi pledges 1% of its annual revenue to the Cotopaxi Foundation, which actively fights global poverty and supports local communities. Additionally, the brand is committed to using 100% recycled, repurposed, or responsibly sourced materials across its entire product lineup.
